In February, I came to the Foundation to be a volunteer. I was impressed with all of the work being done here — the gardens and the earth building but, most especially, the inner work that was being done by the residents. I immediately felt close to the residents, being able to identify with their stories and where they were in their lives. I began teaching some workshops and meditation groups, which ultimately let to me becoming a full time life coach here.
The word that comes to mind when I think of the past 9 months is GRATITUDE. What a blessing it has been to have had so many extraordinary people in my life. I’ve learned so much about myself, much more than I ever could have expected. There is some type of magic that happens when you step into the dining hall and see all of these loving, beautiful faces; or, when I am in a workshop and hear all of the struggles that people are going through, feeling inspired by their determination and perseverance; or, sitting in meditation, feeling like everything is perfect in the world and we are all exactly where we are supposed to be.
I leave here with a heavy heart. I also leave here knowing that I have been so lucky to call this place my home. For all the residents, staff, volunteers and guests who have come through here in the past 9 months…THANK YOU! Thank you for loving me, challenging me, forgiving me and accepting me.
Don’t be dismayed at goodbyes, a farewell is necessary before you can meet again and meeting again, after moments or lifetimes, is certain for those who are friends. ~ Richard Bach
