Meditation

At New Life we offer a mix of guided and silent meditation sessions. We practice mainly in groups, although personal sessions with our meditation teacher are also possible.

One of our main goals in meditation practice is to cultivate mindfulness. Mindfulness is the practice of staying in the moment and allowing ourselves to be present. When we are mindful, we are aware of our experience without clinging to it or pushing it away. Instead of trying to change things, we accept things the way they are.

Through mindfulness, we learn to live with our emotions, thoughts, cravings and urges without getting caught up in them or enslaved by them. By being more aware of our body, thoughts, and emotions we receive signals about what is out of balance.

In this way, mindfulness helps us understand what lies at the root of our behaviour and has the power to transform our negative habits. We learn to find ease and happiness in the present moment and see the future as wide open.

Yoga

Yoga is an ancient Indian discipline involving controlled breathing, prescribed body positions, and meditation, with the objective of attaining a higher state of physical and spiritual well being. At New Life you’ll have the opportunity to discover or deepen your yoga practice day by day, surrounded by positive energy and beauty.

The practice of yoga helps to release tension in the muscular and nervous systems, calm the mind, and increase concentration. It also provides us with an effective method for dismantling compulsive behaviors and triggers, achieving self-confidence, regaining physical health, and learning physical and mental self-control.

Tai Chi

Tai Chi is a discipline that helps bring body and mind closer together. It helps to create a balance between Yin and Yang, flexibility, and strength. Awareness of body movements is sharpened, and our minds become strong, determined, and focused.

The primary goal of this ancient practice is to calm and relax the mind, but there are also other important health benefits: improved posture, enhanced blood circulation and digestion, restored nervous system, relaxed mind, and elevated mood.

Noble silence

At New Life we participate in noble silence from 21.30 until the morning meeting at 8.30, and a little later on Sundays. Practicing noble silence allows us to learn to relax in the presence of silence, and helps us to remove the masks we use when we communicate with others. We can simply be with each other, smile and make friendly eye contact.

When we learn how to be in silence with others, we find a deeper, more essential way of connecting with another human being. As a result, we can get much closer to our experience and begin to glimpse what’s really happening around and inside of us.
