New Life Foundation is honoured to be hosting a talk by the Venerable Ajahn Jayasaro here in Chiang Rai on Friday, October 31 at 2pm. Born Shaun Michael Chiverton on the Isle of Wight in 1958, he ordained in the Theravadin forest lineage of Ajahn Chah in 1980. A highly respected and internationally renowned dhamma teacher, Ajahn Jayasaro was abbot of the Wat Pa Nanachat monastery from 1997 to 2002. Fluent in Thai, Lao, and English, he is probably the most famous Western monk in Thailand and has many students. He has been living in a hermitage situated at Khao Yao National Park in central Thailand since 2003. These days, Ajahn Jayasaro rarely gives public talks outside of his twice-monthly, Thai-language talks in Pak Chong. Needless to say, this is an incredibly special event for our community and we are very much looking forward to meeting and learning from him.
