With Vince Cullen, 24 – 28 August, 2015: This is a 5-day residential retreat exploring Buddhist practices that support recovery from addictions. It will involve an introduction to recovery from addictions and compulsions that manifest as Craving, Aversion and Confusion. The focus will be on developing an understanding and appreciation of the difference between ‘abstaining’ from intoxication and ‘abandoning’ intoxication.
What if your depression, your anxiety, your general not-okness, was not a sign that there’s something wrong with you, that you’re defective, bad or not good enough?
What if these things were a very natural reaction to the dangerous stories the world is enacting?
Vince Cullen first came to New Life in 2010 as a retreat participant before going on to teach his own retreats each year since 2012. From Hungry Ghost to novice monk to returning New Life retreat leader, Vince Cullen is living proof that there is life after alcohol and other drugs. An interview:
After five months working within the community as a much loved mindfulness meditation coach and workshop leader, the time has come to bid farewell to John. To mark the occasion we took the opportunity to have a chat with the man of the hour about meditation and his time at New Life.
Although pizza is far from an everyday occurrence here at New Life, what makes this array of the Italian favorites especially exquisite is that these have been cooked in the Foundation’s brand new, authentic wood-fired oven, and the results are nothing short of spectacular.
Are you looking for a way to meaningfully contribute your skills where they are needed most? Ever wondered what it would be like to live in a vibrant and dynamic mindful community? We’re looking for an energetic life coach or therapist to join our team.
