Jeff Oliver travels widely as an internationally renowned dhamma teacher. During the 3 day vipassana meditation retreat he recently led at New Life, we sat down with him for a chat and talked about his personal story, teaching, awareness, and communication.
Career girl Susan had been flying high in her chosen line of work, climbing the ladder at an impressive pace. She came to volunteer for a month at New Life and ended up joining the resident program for two months, confronting some hard truths along the way and ending up on a very unexpected path. With Tammy Hayano and Justin Green, Sept 18 – Sept 20, 2013: This retreat offers yoga, massage and dance! The Hatha based yoga practice will work on alignment, sequence, awareness and focus. The Thai massage will be a transformative experience that will go beyond techniques. JourneyDance uses the power of music, visual imaginary, creativity, affirmation and guided movement to groove into the flow.
Every day at New Life Foundation residents and volunteers carry out a working meditation. One of the more recent additions to the working meditation is “Random Acts of Kindness”. It has definitely been a challenge to come up with new things every day and it has become a bit of fun competition to see who can be the most original or most enthusiastic.

Vassa, or the ‘Rains Retreat’ (‘Buddhist Lent’) is a sacred time of the year for Buddhists in Thailand. It’s a time for reflection and striving towards the self improvement goals that one sets for oneself. Intentions are the foundations of inner growth, and something that we focus on daily here in the New Life community.
